Start of Season

Below is an update about our first 3 games of the season. All three games were tough losses, but I was pleased to see how my team stayed tough through the whole game and played until the last buzzer. We will build upon these three losses to make us better in the future!

Windsor 57 at Stover 69

The Windsor Greyhound basketball team had a tough game to open their season against an experienced Stover team that started five seniors, including Tyler Wilson, who is a star play in the Mid-Missouri area. Windsor played hard and despite foul trouble, found themselves down only 2 after a well played first half for both teams. The second half belonged to Stover, who outscored Windsor 26 to 16 in the third quarter. Daniel Sanders led Windsor with 28 points and Ryan Hamilton contributed 6 rebounds. This was a big step for the Greyhound basketball team, who played a total of five players who had never seen any varsity action.

Windsor 56 Wellington 71

The schedule did not get any easier for Windsor as they played the highly talented Wellington Tiger team in the first round of the I-70 tournament. The Greyhounds battled hard for the entire 32 minutes and ended up falling short to the Tigers by 15. Daniel Sanders led the Greyhounds with 29 points followed by Ryan Hamilton who had 14.

Windsor 53 Orrick 66

In the next round of the I-70 tournament, Windsor played the Orrick Bearcats. Orrick’s size and experience proved to be too much for Windsor, who struggled on the boards against the larger Orrick team. Windsor pulled within five late in the game after a couple of three point makes from Junior Chase Drenon. The inability to stop Orrick’s Clayton Jones proved to be the downfall for the Greyhounds on this night. Windsor was led in scoring by Sanders who had 18. Derek Riggs also contributed 12 points and 4 rebounds. Hamilton led the Hounds with 8 rebounds to go with his 7 points. Dillon Johnson and Chase Drenon both hits a couple of 3-balls and both finished with 6 points.
